Project
Development of innovative technologies for the realisation of nanocapsules and nanosystems with controlled release of functional substances for biomedical and cosmetic applications
LINARI ENGINEERING SRL – Nanotechnology division
Objectives of NANOCUBE project: in December 2016 Regione Toscana admitted to financing on the call POR FESR 2014 – 2020, the project titled “Development of innovative technologies per the production of controlled-releasing nanocapsules and nanosystems based on functional molecules for biomedical and cosmetic applications”, acronym NANOCUBE, whose goal is to develop innovative active nanometric systems for cosmetic and biomedical applications, like:
- nanomaterials like core-shell nanofibers and nanocapsules for dermal treatment;
- nanomaterials like core-shell nanofibers and nanocapsules, 100% vegetal derived, with triggered release of essential oils for cosmetic and dermocosmetic use (Medical devices class 1 non sterile);
- nanostructured bioactive self-supporting patches for the treatment of chronic wounds.
The goal of NANOCUBE is also to develop and scale up the necessary equipment for the production of these nanostrucutred systems, overcoming the present technical and commercial barriers.
Obtained results Although the project is still ongoing, the main results obtained are the following: a first prototype equipment for the production of self-supporting patches was developing, based on the simultaneous technologies of electrospinning and electrospraying; several hydrosoluble polymers, also plant derived, which were used to produce nanostructured fibers and beads.
